Make one corner the focal point
Choose a tree, mantel or window as the centre of the room. Give that area the strongest detail, then echo one colour or texture elsewhere so the space feels connected.
Choose two colours and one accent
Forest green and ivory work with a touch of burgundy. For a softer look, pair cream and natural textures with a single metallic accent. Use the accent sparingly on ribbons, ornaments or a table setting.
Leave room at the table
Keep arrangements low enough for conversation and leave space for serving dishes. Folded napkins and a small seasonal detail at each setting can be enough.
Make the countdown a ritual
Give an advent calendar a place where you will see it each day. Choose a theme around a favourite interest, and set aside a moment to enjoy the countdown together.
